In Later life you need the right Will
Wills are only a ‘snapshot’ of what is right for you at the time they are drawn up. Therefore, it is sensible to review your Wills every 3-5 years to ensure that they are still doing what you want and still express your current wishes. A lot of things can change in a short period of time.
Grandchildren and more
As we age there are many changes in our lives. Many of us have grandchildren or even great-grandchildren to brighten our lives. Have you thought about including them into your Will?
Free, no obligation reviews
We are serious about people keeping their Wills up-to-date. So we offer a free, no obligation review of your Will to confirm it is valid and also that it is still fit for purpose. This may be particularly important if you have a DIY Will. We can help you revise your Will, or write a new Will if you don’t have one, to take into account the changes in your life.
Protecting ‘Their Inheritance’
Your assets may be subject to Inheritance Tax which can be a complex area. You should be aware that Inheritance Tax may be payable BEFORE the beneficiaries have access to the legacy!
We can give you expert guidance so you can be sure that your assets are protected in the best way for your loved ones.
Care Homes, Assessments and Wills
As much as we would all like to remain independent for our entire lives, there may come a point where some extra care is needed. If you do move to a Care Home you may have to pay your Care Home fees. This does not automatically mean you have to sell your own home or use your assets that you would prefer to be an inheritance for your loved ones. see Care Home Fees: Fast Facts
It is strongly advised that you check that your Will is up-to-date before moving into residence at a Care Home.
Lasting Power of Attorney
There are 2 versions of Lasting Power of Attorney , one version appoints someone to look after your financial interests and the other appoints someone to make decisions about your medical treatment for you, if you become unable to.
Advance Decisions or Living Wills
An Advance Decision (also called an Advanced Directive) states your wishes to refuse all or some types of medical treatment if you lose mental capacity in the future. This can include resuscitation. It is not designed for requesting treatment. Found out more about Living Wills
